luke and yoda
It has been my experience that whenever an young apprentice goes to learn from an old master the experience is much like that of luke skywalker when he first meets jedi master yoda. Luke doubts Yoda's powers and wonders whether this wizened old alien will be any match for the emperors and vaders weapons and powers combined. Yoda is (at first glance) a pathetic old alien stealing food and engaging in childish outbursts how can such a person be able to teach Luke the ways of the force. The essential point here is that the path of the disciple and the path of the master are different. The master simply needs to unlock the disciples mind make the disciple realize the power within.
When young skywalker goes to dagobah to meet Jedi master Yoda he has no idea what to look for. It is a totally new experience for him as other than Obi-Wan Kenobi he has never met a Jedi before and when he sees Yoda at first he is unable to believe that the small green alien is really a great Jedi Master as we see he asked Yoda himself that he is looking for "Yoda Who is a great warrior". Yoda .replies that war does not make a person great and that is the only correct for no matter how many wars one fights war does not enable a person to become great. Yoda senses that young skywalker is not completely ready to begin training. Luke has misgivings and he does not believe that yoda Will be able to teach him how to defeat the evil empire. For Yoda learning is much more than about being good at war you emphasises martial skills generalise that is the light sabre and the use of the force to defeat once any me but Yoda knows that one's enemy is more often than not oneself as we see when Yoda asks Luke go inside the tunnel and face his fears when Luke wants to take his light sabre with him Yoda says that he will not require the lightsabre inside the tunnel and as we see that when Luke enters the tunnel he does need it. Young Skywalker is the one who initiates the attack in the sense that weapons were not required and you need not have use the weapons in the tunnel. So when he takes off Darth Vaders helmet he sees his own face inside the helmet.
