Inception(Some musings)
The movie Inception is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. In fact to call it a mere movie is to undermine it. Inception manages to successfully capture a vision of dream sharing. It is something every one has thought of at some point in their lives. What if we could control our dreams and share dreams with others? What would be the moral and societal implications of such an advancement? For dreams hold the secrets of our darkest innermost desires, our secret longings and fears represented in symbolic form.Cobb is both an outsider and insider. An insider in the sense that he makes his living of creating and sharing dreams. He is part of the whole dream sharing industry which profits from the illegal information extraction from peoples minds. And he is an outsider in the sense that he is slowly getting cast out from that world. His compatriots begin to notice that he is slowly but surely unable to handle the stress which goes with sharing dreams with others and his traumatic past keeps making its way into the dreams he creates and shares. The audience can connect with him easily and yet the attachment is not overly strong.
