Netlix "maniac"review
Netflix's Maniac is a very good limited series set in a dystopian future. Interestingly this appears to be a future where the microchip was never invented as the people are using only analog devices, with valves. Even their supercomputers are non-silicone based. The world that Maniac is set in is a dystopia where faceless global corporations rule the roost. Blackmail is legal and even kidnapping is legal. Our protagonists of this series are two star-crossed individuals grappling with demons in their past.
Enter the drug trial: The protagonists agree to take part in an experimental drug trial being conducted by a Japanese multinational organisation. The experimental drug in question has had unforeseen and dangerous side effects on people who underwent it before. Maniac's strength lies in the beautiful and believable dystopian near future depicted by the creator. It's our world if certain things had gone a little differently.
Coming to the acting both Jonah Hill and Emma Stone give memorable performances. We can empathise easily with their characters and both are extremely competent in describing the damaged nature of their characters. Maniac is easily one of the best original shows brought out by Netflix and hopefully, we will see many more like this.
