Birdman

Birdman is probably the most cerebral movie I have seen this year. Its amazing that in todays blockbuster dominated world movies like Birdman are made. Critics who bemoan the "dumbing down" of modern popular culture which enjoy this movie.

Its as if the movie is made for the enjoyment of critics.
Birdman has some of the best acting I have seen in recent years in a movie.
Michael Keaton and Edward Norton give stellar performances.

It takes quite a bit of concentration to follow what is going on in the movie as
the viewer is exposed to a lot of ideas at the same time.

 A central theme of the movie Birdman is the idea of performance. How the line between stage and reality is very thin. When does the Actor end and the person playing that character begin.

The dividing line between what happens on the stage and off it and by corollary what happens on the movie theatre and what happens is convincingly portrayed.

The dark humor is legendary and there are various moments in the movie when you will be laughing out loud.

Birdman is perhaps one of the best movies out there which explores the line between high art and low art. Birdman questions the nature of our existence by questioning where does our real self begin and where do the characters we play end.
