Antman

Antman is probably one of the best marvel movies made. This is not altogether surprising considering the fact that Edgar Wright is one of the screenwriters. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas both give excellent performances. The visual effects are stunning and when Antman reduces in size the scale is conveyed beautifully. Antman is the perfect family entertainer containing everything a family entertainer requires, action, romance, good visual effects, PG humour and thrills. Marvel once again proves why it is so easily dominating the global box office. After Jurassic World this is the next big family title of the summer. The visual effects looked absolutely stunning in IMAX and this is definitely a title which is best enjoyed in the biggest screen you can access. Some complained that Marvel's Age of Ultron didn't have a very good storyline, rest assured in Antman the plot is well fleshed out. Interestingly the suit in Antman brings to mind the retro suits of the 1980s. It is not an ultra futuristic suit, it looks like it was built in the 80s which is an interesting touch.

Though Paul Rudd is the protagonist audiences are more likely to remember Michael Douglas's performance. Michael Douglas gives one of the best performances of his career and is completely believable as the original Antman. My only problem with the film is that the film's heroine Evangeline Lily feels underutilized. Her absence would not have significantly affected the plot of the movie. The sequences in the movie where the main characters use ants to do their bidding are shown very well. The movie has its fair share of problems as well, the character of the main villain is not developed very well and his motivations are a little hard to understand. It's obvious that he wants the Antman suit and its technology but its a little hard to tell exactly what he plans to do with it other than selling it.

Antman has a cameo by an Avenger as well, when Antman trying to infiltrate a SHIELD facility is stopped by an Avenger. A hilarious fight ensues which is sure to leave audiences in splits. The best part of Antman is the humor which works very well. Overall this is a great movie which is best enjoyed with the family. This movie doesn't break new ground its still familiar marvel territory and that for many will be a good thing.
