Jurassic World
Jurassic World is one of the highest grossing films of the year.Considering the
fact that it was the highest grossing film I was expecting more from the movie.
The greatest advantage of the first movie was that everything shown in the first movie Jurassic Park
happened for the first time. This was the first time that people were attempting to recreate dinosaurs
on the big screen. Thus uniquely paralleling what the scientists in the park were trying to do. Indeed
the first movie created a worldwide craze for dinosaurs. In my home-town people were creating dinosaurs
parks after the movie came out. It is interesting to note that there is always a latent demand to see
dinosaurs on screen people have the desire to be scared by more and more authentic looking dinosaurs.
The CGI used in Jurassic world though not bad is nothing extraordinary. The CGI is like that used in
King Kong years ago. I personally was expecting better CGI. The second problem with the film is the
whole raptor training aspect. The first movie didnt try to make the raptors seems tame able they were
mean and bad creatures who absolutely cant be tamed. In the second film its a bit of a shock to see
raptors being told to do what by Chris Pratt and they actually listening to him. Chris Pratt plays
Chris Pratt in the film. Its like seeing Starlord trying to tame dinosaurs. Jurassic World doesn't do
anything new with the dinosaur movie formula. There are the usual bunch of rogue scientists,
militaristic guys who hunt dinosaurs with guns and choppers thrown in as well. Irfan Khan plays the
owner of the park, and its not a very impressive performance. Granted its not a very big role but still
was expecting more from him. Bryce Dallas Howard is likewise disappointing. Chris Pratt is the only
saving grace of the movie. Though he plays a slight variation of his Starlord role he still manages to
light up the screen every time he comes onscreen. The dinosaurs don't look really good, they are supposed
to look fearsome but instead it feels like been there done that. This maybe due to the fact that CGI
monsters are all over the screen nowadays and audiences are always seeing giant creatures wreaking
havoc onscreen(Godzilla, Pacific Rim, Transformers). This movie is perhaps best enjoyed by those who
haven't seen the original movie. Young children who weren't born when the first movie came out are the
ones who will enjoy the movie most.
