American Sniper

American Sniper is a searing look at war and the toll it takes on the survivors. Though some have said that the movie glorifies violence in my opinion I couldn't find any instance where violence and war was glorified. The movie follows the story of Chris Kyle a US Navy SEAL who is credited with the most number of kills in the history of the United States Military.
The movie focuses on Chris Kyle's four tours of duty in Iraq as he hunts and looks for various highly wanted terrorists. Those who like the genre of sniper battle war movies like Enemy At the gates will find this movie thrilling. The action is realistic though at some points even when the Iraqi insurgents are overwhelming outnumbering US forces the insurgents lose many more men than the US forces.

Even after Chris Kyle comes home signs of the war seems to follow him back home. Whether it is maimed veterans who recognize him and thank him as he goes about his day to day or his own brother joining the military signs of the war follow him home.

Bradley Cooper is extremely convincing in his portrayal of Chris Kyle.
American Sniper is a movie about the futility of violence and war and the enormous toll it takes on the soldiers in the battlefield and their spouses and families who wait for them back home.
All those who fight in the war return home physically or psychologically damaged in some form or another.

The Iraq war has been called by some the 21st century equivalent of the Vietnam War. A war america need not have gotten themselves into.
The movie portrays the gruelling training the navy SEALS undergo training which will break most men which turns them into elite warriors in the battlefield.

American Sniper reminded me of another war movie that I really enjoyed and that movie was Black Hawk Down.
Black hawk Down is another war movie which provides us with an "inside look" at the lives of the soldiers who fight for their country. In both of these movies the action is realistic and exposes us to the gore and violence of the battlefield.
