Gravity(Some musings)

Gravity is a master class in the art of visual storytelling. With the advancements in computer aided visual effects there have been a gamut of movies which are extremely heavy on effects and lack a good story (*cough Transformers cough*). This trend has been detrimental to the overall quality of movies one gets at the box office. As many critics have written the use of special effects often render the movie soulless. Watching giant robots bash each other for hours can get repetitive and boring really quickly. Gravity has easily some of the best effects ever in the history of films. IT can be easily considered an experience especially if you are one of the lucky few who get a chance to experience it in a IMAX theater. The 3-D here is not simply a gimmick and aids in immersing you in the movie. Recently due to the recent trend of 3_D movies many films have been released which have absolutely no 3-D effects to speak of. Gravity uses 3-D to immerse you in the movie. But all the special effects techno wizardry is backed up by a superb story. In Gravity one sees in modern times a rare movie where the special effects are as good as the movie itself. Gravity is a movie that one after watching it once wants to watch again and again. The performances by both George Clooney and Sandra Bullock are legendary. The audience can experience the heartbreak of Bullocks character through her performance. Its an incredible story about man's place in the universe..about an individuals fears and the ability of the human spirit to endure and ultimately overcome anything life throws in its way.  .
